Skills and Keywords
Mirror the job post honestly: reflect their wording for skills you genuinely have, never stuff in keywords you don't.
Keyword alignment matters, but it's a matching exercise, not a trick. The goal is to use the same words the job post uses for things that are already true about you.
Read the posting, then reread your resume
If the posting says "Kubernetes" and you wrote "container orchestration," a keyword search, human or automated, may not connect the two. Match their exact term when it's accurate; it costs nothing and removes friction for the reader.
Never add a skill you don't have
A skills section is a promise the interview has to keep. Padding it with anything you'd struggle to answer a basic question about tends to surface fast, and it costs more trust than the resume gained by including it.
The posting says "CI/CD pipelines"; your resume says "CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions)" instead of "automated deployment workflows."
Copy every buzzword from the job description into your skills list regardless of whether you've actually used it.
